Farewell to Sixth Grade!

As the Sixth Grade passes and the Summer is almost done, I recollect on the various experiences during the passed school year. I had grown greatly both physically and mentally.

In this year Physically, I lost three teeth, grew 1.5 inches, and went up a shoe size. I started wearing glasses (-2.00) got a :33 on my 50 yard freestyle, and started trying to ride my bike hands-free.

School-wise, I got 20 A’s and 4 A-’s , read lots of books like the “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” and “The Guardians of Ga’Hoole” series, and met lots of new teachers. I saw friends for 5th grade and made lots of new friends. And in PE, I drapped from a 9:20 to a 7:09 in my mile runs.

In music, I made the Jazz Band on piano in my school by auditioning, and played Alto Sax in the 6th grade band. I went up one level in the Certificate of Merit testings, and attended Branch Honors, a recital for students who did exceptionally well in the CM tests. I also learned two more dances from Bach’s English Suite III.

This year has been a hotspot for growth, with gains physically, school-wise, and musically. With these advances, I have a feeling that 7th grade will be even better!

Go David!!

“got a :33 on my 50 yard freestyle”
    - Congrats! Back in sixth grade I was nowhere close.

“started trying to ride my bike hands-free”
    - Meh, I don’t know how to ride a bike. I used to be able to, but I don’t think I used it much, so the skill just vanished.

    “I got 20 A’s and 4 A-’s”
    - Awesome! Yeah, in that middle school A-’s have an adverse effect on your GPA, which can be annoying. But, since you got into Jazz Band, that’s one free GPA point. Whoo. :| But anyways, my record in middle school is 72 A’s.
And, in high school, counting semesters, my total so far is 8 A+’s and 6 A’s, if you really want to know. I hope that’s decent enough.

    “I drapped from a 9:20 to a 7:09 in my mile runs.”
    - Are you serious? My first mile in middle school was also an exact 9:20! That’s pretty funny.

“I made the Jazz Band on piano in my school by auditioning.”
    - To me, this is the highlight of your middle school career. Focus on this!

“I have a feeling that 7th grade will be even better!”
    - Agreed. At least for me, the motivation of this middle school rose with each grade level. Next year, you get electives, so that will be fun for you. And then, in eight grade, you get to enjoy the myriad of planned activities. So yeah, there’s always more you can look forward to in middle school. With that, I say good luck!

In 7th grade, you will grow faster and taller, become more like a teenage, and lots of more to learn and enjoy.
Focus on something you do well, and really make it perfect.

If you can, suggest Ms. Palmquist for Core. I feel she is the greatest teacher at that school. Trust me… You’ll be lucky to have her and she’ll be lucky to have you!
